Frida de Flores | Floral Frida

| Fridita con ojo turco. Versión especial para MB-Pomegranatelady, 2018. |
Do you know the iconic 1938 Vogue magazine cover? This image was the spark that inspired Fridita's outfit, when my cousin, who is a huge Frida fan, asked me to make one for her.
The funny thing is that, when researching Frida's actual wardrobe, I discovered that she rarely wore black or dark dresses. Quite the opposite: her wardrobe contained dresses in vibrant colours, light shades and pastels. However, Frissel's image and that magazine cover were my reference for Frida, and so Fridita came to life in a floral fabric with black background. The gold necklace and medallion, made of ribbon and a metal button, were a must.
There she is, with her characteristic hairstyle adorned with flowers. Like all Pichoniza models, she has undergone her own metamorphosis, and her dress has changed many times.
Fridita de flores is Pichoniza's most successful model. Cousin, thank you so much for giving way to inspiration. 🌺
