Esta colección es una fusión con artesanía otomí de la Sierra Norte de Puebla — de las más reconocidas y admiradas de México. Los bordados y las medallitas de chaquira son de Luis Santos, artesano de San Pablito Pahuatlán. Mi parte fue tomar esos elementos tradicionales y armar con ellos tres piezas que, sin planearlo, terminaron formando un pequeño trío del bosque: un pino, un animal y una flor.

Pina, porque los medallones de chaquira parecían esferitas de navidad y ella misma terminó con esa silueta de pinito. Fauna, vestida con el bordado tenango, esos diseños con animalitos de colores que hoy se ven hasta en pasarelas. Y Flora, toda rosa con flores que parecen salirle del cuerpo —la conexión con la tierra.

Compré un mantel completo de tenangos y lo fui cortando para hacer varias Fauna. Pina y Flora, en cambio, fueron piezas únicas desde el principio. Por eso, si tienes una Pina, una Flora, o una de las últimas Fauna, tienes una pieza irrepetible que fusiona dos mundos. ✨

This collection is a fusion with Otomí craftsmanship from the Sierra Norte de Puebla—among the most renowned and admired in Mexico. The embroidery and beaded medallions are by Luis Santos, an artisan from San Pablito Pahuatlán. My role was to take these traditional elements and use them to create three pieces that, without intending to, ended up forming a small forest trio: a pine tree, an animal, and a flower.

Pina, because the beaded medallions looked like little Christmas ornaments and she herself ended up with that little pine tree silhouette. Fauna, dressed in Tenango embroidery—those designs with colorful little animals that you see even on the runways today. And Flora, all in pink with flowers that seem to be sprouting from her body—the connection to the earth.

I bought a whole tablecloth made of tenangos and cut it up to make several Fauna pieces. Pina and Flora, on the other hand, were one-of-a-kind pieces from the start. That’s why, if you have a Pina, a Flora, or one of the latest Fauna pieces, you have a unique piece that blends two worlds.✨
