Juana Ines making of.

Esta muñeca está inspirada en Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz y estaba destinada a nacer, pero no estaba planeada. Una amiga me dió la idea y de inmediato apareció el modelo en mi mente.

Para afinarla, hice algo de investigación para ver cómo era el personaje. Descubrí que su hábito era blanco con negro y que portaba una pintura en el pecho de la "Anunciación", mejor conocida como "Escudo de monja", que debía ser del tamaño de su cabeza... muy barroco por supuesto. Esto definió los detalles y asi, como cuando tomas lo que sea que encuentres en refri y te sale un platillo exquisito, nació la pequeña Juana Inés, con un gran escudo dorado y un pequeño rosario en su atuendo. 

Juana Inés, me encanta tu nombre. Sé que te gusta escribir y eres muy lista. Naciste en uno de esos momentos donde no soy yo quien diseña, sino un "genio elusivo" a través de mí que quiere que aparezcas. 🌌💛

This doll is inspired by Sor Juana Inés de la Cruz and was destined to be created, but it was not planned. A friend gave me the idea and the model immediately appeared in my mind.

To refine it, I did some research to see what the character was like. I discovered that her habit was black & white and that she wore a painting on her chest of the ‘Annunciation’, better known as the ‘nun's shield’, which had to be the size of her head... very baroque, of course. This defined the details and so, just like when you take whatever you find in the fridge and come up with an exquisite dish, little Juana Inés was born, with a large golden shield and a small rosary on her outfit. 

Juana Inés, I love your name. I know you like to write and you are very smart. You were born in one of those moments where it is not me who designs, but an ‘elusive genius’ through me who wants you to show up.🌌💛
